Researchers in India have developed an artificial intelligence-based system to detect colorectal cancer with 95.24% accuracy, reported The Times of India.
"In the current manual approach for colonoscopy examination…observation bias may sometimes lead to an erroneous diagnosis," said researcher Kangkana Bora.
Study leader MK Bhuyan suggested this "AI-based solution can reduce the laborious task of physicians by sieving out the normal cases so that they can concentrate more on suspicious cases."
The research team plans to commercialise the technology in the future, according to the news source.
