Apple may bring new health-focused technology in its Watch coming later this year, reported the Hindustan Times. The new Watch, tipped Apple Watch Series 7, may be able to monitor blood glucose without drawing blood.
A patent application filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) states that Apple can use absorption spectroscopy to obtain non-invasive glucose readings.
Also mentioned is that the company could use terahertz electromagnetic radiation instead of using light to pass through the body to detect "gas, health/quality of liquid or solid materials."
However, the patent also mentions that implementation of the technology could result in the Watch losing water resistance, potentially affecting accuracy of the glucose readings, while it could also result in the battery draining faster, according to the news source.
Meanwhile, the report adds that the same technology could potentially be used to detect skin cancer and other related problems.
