Shimadzu said it will begin exporting its reagent kits for detecting COVID-19 through PCR testing, starting with Southeast Asia next month, as reported The Mainichi Daily News on Friday.
The company said it has obtained provisional authorisation from Singapore's Health Sciences Authority to sell the kits.
Shimadzu started the sale of the kits in the US last September for use exclusively in laboratory tests based on the FDA emergency-use authorisation.
The company expects to produce up to 3000 kits for 300,000 tests per month for use outside Japan.
