Mobidiag's Novodiag Stool Parasites test awarded CE-IVD marking

Mobidiag announced Wednesday the CE-IVD marking of the Novodiag Stool Parasites test, a diagnostic for the detection of intestinal parasites directly from stool samples. CEO Tuomas Tenkanen suggested that the test "is the only fully automated, rapid, cost-effective and easy to use diagnostic solution that can identify a comprehensive range of parasitic targets, for use in laboratories and hospitals."

According to Mobidiag, Novodiag Stool Parasites, which combines real-time PCR and microarray technologies to detect more than 95% of intestinal parasites, is designed to run on-demand using the automated Novodiag system. The test can "detect the presence of nucleic acid markers corresponding to the identification of the most common protozoan, helminths and microsporidia from stool samples," with results available in 90 minutes, the company added.

Novodiag Stool Parasites is the fourth test on the company's Novodiag platform. The Novodiag CarbaR+ test to detect resistant bacteria received the CE-IVD mark in January, and Mobidiag also offers the Novodiag C. difficile and Novodiag Bacterial GE+ diagnostics.
