Microsoft poaches Samsung’s chief medical officer to join its growing health team - (CNBC via NewsPoints Desk)

  • Microsoft said it has hired David Rhew as chief medical officer, CNBC reported Tuesday.  

  • Rhew was previously employed by Samsung Electronics, where he worked as a chief medical officer overseeing the company’s health efforts in the US.

  • Microsoft employed Google Cloud's health lead Greg Moore earlier this year and previously recruited Josh Mandel from Verily.

  • While at Samsung, Rhew's focus has spanned a number of different areas, including portable CT scanners, ultrasound machines, diagnostics products, R&D and wearable computing.

  • Additionally, Rhew has experience in clinical decision support and opening up access to medical data, which aligns closely with Microsoft, according to the news source.
