Carl Zeiss Meditec reports preliminary 9-percent revenue growth in fiscal first half; lifts full-year profit guidance

Carl Zeiss Meditec announced preliminary financial results Friday for the first six months of fiscal year 2018/2019, saying sales grew around 9 percent year-on-year to around 667 million euros ($753.5 million). The company estimated that earnings will rise to approximately 110 million euros ($124.3 million) in the six-month period, versus 88 million euros ($99 million) in the first half of the previous year.

According to Carl Zeiss Meditec, the profit increase "was supported by a positive trend in product mix with a high share of recurring revenue, in particular."

Looking ahead, Carl Zeiss Meditec said its full-year 2018/2019 revenue is expected to reach between 1.35 billion euros ($1.53 billion) and 1.42 billion euros ($1.6 billion), versus 1.28 billion euros ($1.45 billion) in the previous year. Meanwhile, its earnings margin for the full year is now projected to reach 15 percent to 17.5 percent, up from previous guidance of 14 percent to 16 percent.

The company will report full financial results for the first six months of the 2018/2019 fiscal year on May 6.
