AliveCor says it's seen a big boost since Apple's health event  - (CNBC via NewsPoints Desk)

  • Prior to Apple's recent unveiling of the FDA cleared electrocardiogram (ECG) feature on the latest Apple Watch, AliveCor CEO Vic Gundotra said his company has seen a doubling in traffic to its website and an 80-percent jump in sales for its portable ECGs, CNBC reported Friday.

  • While Apple's ECG sensor and apps provide users with access to their ECG readings immediately, AliveCor's has to be reviewed by a doctor within 24 hours to unlock the first reading, according to the news source.

  • However, Gundotra said that Apple gave his company its biggest boost yet, noting that AliveCor is profiting from the attention.

  • He added that his company's devices are available for $99 and up, while the Series 4 Apple Watch starts at $399.

  • "I'm thrilled," said Gundotra, adding that "we have a lot less explaining to do."
